對我自己而言，11月2日也是永生難忘的日子。當(dāng)時，我有幸成為第一個訪問湯加的中國政府代表團(tuán)工作人員，并在那一天前往王宮拜見圖普四世國王。也是在那次訪問期間，中方代表團(tuán)受到了圖普六世國王、皮洛萊烏公主和湯加政府的熱情款待。從此，我自己便與湯加結(jié)下了不解之緣，直到去年5月出任第七任中國駐湯加大使，再次直接投身于中湯友好事業(yè)之中。

　　我們高興地看到，建交以來，在兩國領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人關(guān)心和雙方共同努力下，中湯關(guān)系始終保持著良好的發(fā)展勢頭。

For myself, November 2 is also a date I will never forget in my life. I had the honor to become a working staff of the first Chinese government delegation to visit the Kingdom and had an audience with His Late Majesty King Tupou IV in the Royal Palace on that day. It was also during that visit that the Chinese delegation were warmly received by His Majesty King Tupou VI, Her Royal Highness Princess Pilolevu and the Tongan Government. Since then, I have formed an indissoluble bond with Tonga until I was appointed the seventh Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom in May last year and once again directly involve myself in the friendly undertaking of friendship between our two countries.

We are happy to see that since the normalization of diplomatic ties, with the care of our state leaders and concerted efforts on both sides, China-Tonga relations have made great progress.

　　20年來，兩國各個級別保持了密切往來。每年雙方政府和議會都有重要的官方代表團(tuán)進(jìn)行互訪，就兩國合作事宜交換意見。特別是，今年3月，應(yīng)習(xí)近平主席邀請，圖普六世國王成功對華進(jìn)行國事訪問，兩國元首就推動相互尊重、共同發(fā)展的中湯戰(zhàn)略伙伴關(guān)系取得新的更大發(fā)展達(dá)成重要共識，為兩國關(guān)系未來發(fā)展指明了方向。雙方還發(fā)表了《中湯聯(lián)合新聞公報(bào)》，為雙方各領(lǐng)域交往合作作出了規(guī)劃。

　　20年來，兩國政治互信日益加深。中湯雙方在事關(guān)彼此核心利益和重大關(guān)切問題上一直相互理解、相互支持，堅(jiān)持互不干涉內(nèi)政原則，成為了名符其實(shí)的好朋友、好伙伴。中方堅(jiān)定支持湯加保持國家獨(dú)立、維護(hù)國家主權(quán)，探索符合本國國情的發(fā)展道路。湯加王室、歷屆政府和議會始終堅(jiān)定奉行對華友好政策，恪守一個中國原則，不與臺灣當(dāng)局進(jìn)行往來。中方對此高度贊賞。

Over the 20 years, we have kept close contacts at different governmental levels. Every year, important official delegations from the two governments and two legislatures would have mutual visits and exchange views on bilateral cooperation. In particular, at the invitation of the Chinese President Xi Jinping, His Majesty King Tupou VI paid a successful visit to China in March this year. The two Heads of State reached important consensus on pushing for new and greater achievements in the development of the China-Tonga Strategic Partnership of mutual respect and common development, which chartered the course for future development of bilateral relations. The two sides also issued a Joint Press Communique outlining plans for enhanced exchanges and collaboration in various fields.

Over the 20 years, we have strengthened our mutual political trust. China and Tonga have always understood and supported each other on matters related to each others' core interests and serious concerns. We have been upholding the principle of non-interference in each others' internal affairs and indeed become good friends and partners. China firmly supports Tonga in maintaining its national independence, safeguarding national sovereignty and exploring development path that suits Tonga's conditions. The Royal Family, consecutive governments and parliaments of Tonga have always followed the friendly policy towards China, by strictly abiding by the One China principle and avoiding any contacts with the Taiwan authorities, of which China is highly appreciative.
