說(shuō)明：

Showcase的本意是用于展示物品的“玻璃櫥柜” （a glass container used to store and display items in a shop or museum or home)，做動(dòng)詞是“展示”之意，即通過(guò)特殊的布置方法，顯示某件事物的獨(dú)到之處。用在這里不合適。“…for years”的意思并不是“終年”，而是“多年來(lái)”。

2. 搭配不當(dāng)

搭配是指一個(gè)詞經(jīng)常與哪些詞用在一起。如搭配錯(cuò)誤，讓人讀起來(lái)不舒服、不知所云或產(chǎn)生誤解。例如，課文中的“往上看”，原譯為raise your sight，這一搭配并不存在。如果要用sight，就要符合sight的搭配規(guī)律。Sight作為“視野”講，可以搭配的詞語(yǔ)有：come into Then the towers of the castle came into sight. I disappear from，vanish from She watched until the car disappeared from sight. I hide ( sth) from, remove sth from I hid the papers from sight. I keep sth in Keep their car in sight for as long as you can. 如果要用 raise，應(yīng)當(dāng)說(shuō) raise your gaze、raise your eyes。

“日光毒”原譯 The sunlight is scorching；如用 scorching，應(yīng)該說(shuō) The sun is scorching.“在北平住慣的人”原譯 habitual dweller of Peiping，搭配不當(dāng)，解釋為someone who is used to living in Beiping即可。法律中倒是有一個(gè)概念叫“慣常居住地”，英文是place of habitual residence，但用在這里不合適?！懊魈煲苍S就是春天了吧?”譯為Hopefully, spring will come around tomorrow?也屬于搭配不當(dāng)，come around的意思是visit，主語(yǔ)是 “人”。

如果說(shuō)這些搭配錯(cuò)誤還能讓人看出意思來(lái)，有些搭配恐怕難以讓人理解。例如：“由澄清的河水慢慢往上看吧，空中，半空中，天上”，原譯為 “Raise your sight slowly from the crystal clear waters through the lower and mid-sky to the zenith，—系列的搭配錯(cuò)誤和用詞不當(dāng)，使得讀者有些費(fèi)解。改譯：As you raise your eyes slowly from the transparent depths and look up gradually to the sky.
