例3的“掩耳偷鈴”是賈政對(duì)寶玉學(xué)習(xí)《詩(shī)經(jīng)》的態(tài)度，表現(xiàn)了他滿(mǎn)腦子的《四書(shū)》、《五經(jīng)》、科舉、八股。短短一句話(huà)，借助這個(gè)生動(dòng)妥帖的比喻，就使賈政沽名釣譽(yù)、頤指氣使的封建家長(zhǎng)形象躍然紙上。例4的“兩溜雁翅”意即“象兩排展翅飛翔的大雁似的”，把賈母八旬大壽人席時(shí)的禮法秩序和壯觀場(chǎng)面活現(xiàn)出來(lái)。例5用“顯的”作喻詞，僅用 “蜂腰猿背，鶴勢(shì)螂形”這八個(gè)字就把湘云穿戴打扮成“小子的樣兒”刻畫(huà)了出來(lái)。顯然，這些暗喻的修辭效果是不容忽視的，但是兩個(gè)譯本卻采取了令人遺憾的忽視態(tài)度。

當(dāng)然，就暗喻的翻譯而言，兩譯本帶給讀者更多的不是遺憾，而是架起了溝通原作與譯文讀者的橋梁，創(chuàng)造出許多與原作如影隨形的妙語(yǔ)佳喻：
